New Officers of CCOSD for the New Term of 2010-2012

CCOSD is proud to announce the new following officers:
President Sue Pedersen, Vice President Alexandra aka Sandra Mc Gee , Secretary Jeff Bravin, Treasurer Basil Brackett, Members -at-large Bob Backofen, Maureen Chamlers and Michael Fiorino. Congratulations, New Officers!

At the CCOSD meeting on December 7, 2009, the representatives decided to advocate for SSP (Special Service Providers) to receive free admission to any social events or whatever as the working persons of DeafBlind clients according to the same function of working interpreters at any place that deaf clients attend.

In addition, CCOSD is going to advocate for any deaf parents of hearing teen agers as well as deaf teen agers to have interpreting services at the driving training classes as mandated by state.

CCOSD representative gave a briefing on the “Emergency Responders and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community: Taking the First Steps to Diaster Preparedness”. He encouraged the representatives to involve in their local emergency responders so that they would know where the deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing residents live in event that they could be contacted at time of disaster. The CCOSD representatives were reminded that disaster that hits the population is different from emergency for an individual. They are encouraged to update their forms, “How to Alert 911 To Your Special Needs” before calling E-911 for help.
