2010 College Bowl Competition

The National Association of the Deaf is now currently recruiting teams for the 2010 College Bowl competition!  The College Bowl is an exciting trivia competition where teams composed of deaf and hard of hearing college students answer a series of questions through 3 rounds of intense competition in categories such as history, science, deaf culture, and entertainment.  It’s one of the highlights of the biennial NAD conferences!  The 2010 NAD Conference will take place in July in Philadelphia, PA.

Historically (since the very first College Bowl competition in 1988!), participation in the competition was restricted to CSUN, Gallaudet University, and NTID/RIT, but beginning this year, any post secondary school that meets the below criteria may send a team to compete!

In order for a school to be eligible to send a team, the school must be a four-year college or university, and have at least 20 deaf and hard of hearing students enrolled.  Teams must have four student members (an alternate is also permitted but not required).  The students must be deaf or hard of hearing full time undergraduate students as of the spring 2010 semester or quarter and working towards their first (or joint) undergraduate degree, and in good academic standing.

Please feel free to forward this to the appropriate person (including students) at your school or at any other school!   The committee is currently collecting contact information for interested schools that meet the criteria above.  To be added to the contact list, please send an email to the competition committee chair (Kyle Houston) directly at curigrge@gmail.com with the school name, the contact person’s name and email address.  Further details including the formal guidelines will be sent to those on the contact list within the next couple of weeks.

If you have any questions, please contact Kyle Houston, 2010 NAD College Bowl Committee Chair.
