Administrator 3 (Director of the Collegiate Education for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Person) 12-Month, Management Position (CED03)

ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: July 1, 2010

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree and two years’ experience working with the deaf and hearing impaired in a rehabilitation teaching or interpreting setting including two year’s supervisory or management experience; fluent in American Sign Language; knowledge of The Bilingual-Bicultural Deaf Education philosophy, familiarity with English as a second language for deaf students, excellent communication skills. Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Dean of Administration, the Director of the Collegiate Education for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Persons is responsible for supervision, leadership and direction of the Collegiate Education for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Persons. The Director also recruits deaf and hard of hearing students to Northwestern; meets students, teachers and parents interested in college program; acts as liaison between college and agencies serving deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Additional key effectiveness areas include staff management, program development, budget & grant development/management and marketing and enrollment management.

MINIMUM SALARY:

$66,523 annual approximate, plus excellent medical insurance, retirement and related fringe benefits.
